A productive day

Week 4:
(day= 9hrs total= ?)

I am very excited because I am ahead schedule on organizing, cutting, and naming clips. I have about three to four long clips to cut down and name before I am finished. I now have the right software to work with and start editing. This seem to moving along smoothly. I also worked on the website for the organization. I decided to start a new page and create a different theme to provide more choices and new ideas. I am very happy with what I have created and am looking forward to see how the whole thing put together will turn out.

Question of the day:
I like working with my mentor and feel like we have a good relationship. She does have the final say but i feel that we make sure we are both on the same page and work together more on the same level more than anything else. I feel that I am clearly working for her but also with her as well. Are job relationship is well balanced between mentor/boss and working together side by side.

organized

week 3:
(day = 3.5 hours total = ?)

This week I tried to get organized. I set up a folder on my computer and am in the process of creating a physical folder for papers and notes. Because monday was a holiday I worked a little, but took it easy. It was a slow day to prepare for all of the hard working days ahead. I needed to get organized so that i don't drive myself crazy spending half of my time trying to find what I need in order to work.

A slow day

Week 2:

Today was a slow day. I got up and started to organize all of the raw footage. I named all of the large video clips that I want to use in the short film so that I can cut the large clips into smaller clips. I wanted to get some of the clips that need to be translated onto a disk so that Anna, the Spanish teacher, could give her students the disk and have them help translate. I didn't get to this, because I found out that I need Quicktime Pro 7 in order to do this. I am going to talk to a couple of friends to see if they can help me, or I might use someone else's computer to preform this job that needs to be done ASAP. I was successful, however, in importing more raw footage onto my computer. This took a long time to complete because I discovered that I didn't have a firewire. I went to Staples and bought one and then I began to import at home. I learned that in order to make things move along faster and more officiant that i need t prepare and make an agenda on Sunday before I start work on Monday.

Today I will have worked 10 hrs. and overall including last week I will have worked 20 hrs.

The question of the week: Since I work at home I would have to say that the dress code it very casual and quiet but the overall environment to very serious. I have a lot to do in a very short amount of time. My mentor and I created a very tight and strict agenda for me to abide by. The environment is very different from school because I am working at home and have to be much more organized and self motivated. The good thing about working in the comfort of my own home is there are no distractions from classmates. This overall experience is interesting, challenging and very educational.

First Official Day Working

Week 1:

Today was the first day of my WLE (Workplace Learning Experience). I am working for "The Anapra Education Project." The non-profit organization is dedicated to helping children get an education as well as better opportunities in life in Anapra, Mexico.

This morning I met with my mentor, Rebecka, and discussed what needed to be done and when everything should be finished. We talked about the requirements of the WLE and what was expected from my school. We also created a time line to follow throughout the months. After Rebecka left I worked on the layout and draft of the website that I am to publish. We are both excited to officially dive into this project.

I worked from 10:00 am to 9:30 pm. All together I have worked more than 80 hrs. but am still working on the very large project.
